Looking for a Physiotherapist in Burlington? Meet Alex Ward

Alex Ward is a Registered Physiotherapist at Kinetic Physiotherapy, 401 Pearl Street in Downtown Burlington, Ontario.

The Downtown Burlington physio I found through community

My hip was really painful.

I'd seen three different professionals. Tried Pilates. Tried yoga. Nothing was doing it, and it was actually getting worse.

Then I met Alex.

He fixed it. Totally. And I don't say that lightly.

At The Village, we don't spotlight businesses because they're trendy. We share the people who make this community feel like home. The ones you end up recommending to everyone you know. Alex is one of those people.

How did I find Alex?
Through The Village.

I met Alex at Yoga for Wishes in the Park at LaSalle Park in Aldershot this summer, where he offered free 10-minute consultations to the community.

He was one of our vendors. Our yoga instructor recommended him highly, so I sat down for ten minutes.

Ten minutes. That's how this started.

This is the part I love most. I didn't find the person who fixed my hip through an ad or a search. I found him through a yoga event we hosted for Make-A-Wish Canada, on the recommendation of someone I trust.

That's the power of community. That's the whole reason The Village exists.

Who is Alex Ward?

Alex Ward is a Registered Physiotherapist who has been treating patients in the Burlington community for three years at Kinetic Physiotherapy.

Movement has always been his thing. Before physiotherapy, Alex worked as a personal trainer, and the one-on-one part is what pulled him in. He went on to complete his Master of Science in Physiotherapy at Brunel University in London, England, where he also helped run exercise classes for stroke survivors.

Now he's here. Treating our neighbours, coaches, runners, parents and grandparents. With a big, bubbly personality that makes every appointment feel easy, and a depth of knowledge that makes you trust him in the first five minutes.

What does a physiotherapist like Alex help with?

Alex helps people recover from injury, ease everyday aches and limitations, and get back to the movement that makes life feel good.

Sometimes that's getting a weekend warrior back into running after years away. Sometimes it's helping someone keep up with their grandkids. Sometimes it's the painful, nagging thing you've already tried everything for.

His work includes exercise rehab, active release therapy and vestibular rehab, all built around what you actually want to get back to doing.

What is it actually like to see Alex?

Alex is warm, fun and deeply knowledgeable, and he focuses on the whole person, not only the injury.

Here's what I noticed. He listens. He wants to know what your life looks like, not only where it hurts. And he's so much fun to be around, which matters more than you'd think when you're in pain.

In his words, physiotherapy is about "understanding the person, building confidence in their body."

That's it. That's the whole thing.

And his favourite part of the job? Running into patients around Burlington. Out walking, running, training, or enjoying a regular Saturday with their families. Progress you can see outside the clinic.

Do I need a doctor's referral to see a physiotherapist in Ontario?

No. In Ontario you can book directly with a physiotherapist without a referral.

Some extended health plans ask for a referral before they'll reimburse, so it's worth checking your plan before your first visit.

Is physiotherapy covered by insurance?

Many extended health benefit plans cover physiotherapy, usually up to a yearly amount.

Check your plan for your coverage, and ask the clinic about direct billing when you book.

The Village Take: Why Alex Belongs in Best of Burlington

At The Village, we don't just curate homes. We curate humans.

Alex shows up, does excellent work, and genuinely cares about the person in front of him. I found him because people in this community kept showing up for each other. That's the kind of care I want for every single one of YOU.

You don't have to keep working around the thing that hurts. You're allowed to keep looking until you find the right person.
